About Me: My name is Laura Flynn, and I am excited to be part of the Troy Hofer Full Day Preschool teaching team. This is my fifteenth year working for Troy School District, and my tenth year teaching preschool. This is my sixth year teaching the Full Day, PFAE program. Before teaching preschool, I worked as a teaching assistant in a self contained special education preschool classroom for the previous three years. I also worked as a teaching assistant the previous two years in blended preschool classrooms. Additionally, I had the opportunity to fill a maternity leave as the classroom teacher in the STARS classroom for the first trimester of the 2013-2014 school year. Before I had children of my own, I taught 3rd Grade.
I am very excited to be continuing the Full Day, Preschool For All-Expansion program this year! Helping children and their families has always been a passion of mine! I am eagerly anticipating this new school year, and how we will be able to serve families. I always aim to make things accessible for students and families. If there is something I can be doing to help you, please do let me know. I will be happy to help in any way I can.
I have received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and have numerous graduate school credits. I am certified to teach Early Childhood and Elementary students, and also have Special Education and English Language Learner endorsements.
On a personal note, I have 3 kids, and my husband and I have been married for 26 years. My children are Patrick, 23, Casey, 21, and Ryan, 19. We also have a dog named Yoshi and a cat named Simba. They are both about seven and a half years old.
I look forward to a fantastic school year working with your child!
My teaching assistant, Ms. Johnston, has been working with preschool students at Troy for a year. She also runs a home day care. She has 2 grown kids, Scotty and Carli. Her favorite things to do are bike riding and spending time with her family. She loves being outdoors and really enjoys playing cards. We are looking forward to a great year together with your child!
Mrs. Sands is in our classroom during the middle part of our day to assist with lunch and rest times. She has a calm and warm demeanor with the children, and she helps to keep that period of our day running smoothly!
