It' been another great week learning all about roads! The kids really enjoyed this study! Today is the last day for Road Study though. Next week we will begin a new study- Exercise! I'm sure this will be fun for them as well, and bring lots of new learning experiences.
Our class has become very curious about water this week! If you've been in our class before, you've likely seen the large sand table in our science center. Today I moved the sand into another table, and put several containers of water in the big sensory table. They have lots of room to experiment with pouring, squeezing pipettes, and seeing the water levels go up and down as they pour the water in different containers. We want to encourage their curiosity, as this is where the magic of learning, and learning to love learning comes in! The new set up for water table has been a big hit today!
You may also hear at home about red light stop, green light go. We've been using Road Study to also help us build on our understanding of rules and expected behavior. We talk about red choices as negative choices that we shouldn't do, and green choices as good things to do. They are responding well and have also really enjoyed playing Red Light, Green Light in the gym!
We practiced making our own road signs from some books with signs as models. We've practiced rhyming using those rhyming car tunnels you may have seen at our Learning Together Day. Those were both independent small groups for them to practice skills they have already been working on. We also practiced measurement using cars, using words that involve spacial relationships, such as under, behind, and in front, and practiced identifying and describing shapes. Today marks the end of Trimester 2. I am super proud of all your children and the progress they made this trimester. They are all well on their way to being ready for kindergarten!
