We have had a great week talking all about when things happen at school! The kids are doing a super job using our daily schedule to refer to throughout the day and recognize when things are happening. We also talked about community helpers and have been trying on different costumes to pretend to be fire fighters, police officers, chefs, doctors, and construction workers! The kids have especially loved being doctors and veterinarians. They have given each other, the babies, and the stuffed animals all check ups.
We've had some fun block play this week, as they have continued to play with the beloved "5 Little Monkeys" that we have been using at circle time. They've begun building houses with beds and schools with cots, to have the monkeys jump and fall out of the bed. This coming week we will continue our play with the monkeys, to practice an important math skill- quantifying. We will practice saying how many quickly, adding together groups, and subtracting small groups up to 5.
Thank you all for your flexibility on Friday, as we had to switch to our Plan B. I know that must have been disappointing to not be able to meet at the park. I did enjoy reading though, and I loved seeing so many people joining us on the Google Meet. Our next Family Engagement Friday will be on October 20, and that one will be indoors. I'll look forward to seeing you there!
This week we will also have our Back to School Night! I have a planned presentation that will take place in our classroom from 4:30-5:00. I hope to see you there! Following the presentation, you may also wish to visit the library for the Book Fair! The presentation will introduce you to the team of people that work with students, as well as introduce you to our program, schedule, and curriculum. It's sure to be a valuable night!
