This week we have been talking all about what happens to our bodies when we exercise! We're talking about our muscles and heart and lungs. Did you know that it is recommended that kids get 60 minutes of exercise every day! Luckily we have lots of time at school for this with our morning and afternoon gross motor times!
We've also been continuing to work on those kindergarten readiness skills! We wrote letters in shaving cream this week, to practice writing, as well as letter identification and letter sounds! We practiced simple story problems using objects, where they add and subtract small groups of objects together! This is a really hard skill at this age, but kids are beginning to grasp the concept, which is just what we want. They do not need to be proficient at this skill at this young age, but beginning to understand the concept will help them next year in kindergarten, when they will really begin using those skills!
Next week we will have another SIP early release day on Tuesday. We will be dismissing at 11:50. I also plan to make guacamole with the class that week! Part of our exercise study includes learning about which foods we need to grow healthy and strong and have the energy for exercise. If you came to "Fruits and Veggies to the Rescue," you know that avocados are one of the best things we can eat, nutritionally speaking. I want to have the kids learn about the process to make this treat, and have a chance to try it out! I know this will be a fun and exciting project for them!
Have a wonderful weekend!
