Hello Families!
We had another fun and exciting week here in preschool! Our butterflies all came out of their chrysalis by Wednesday! The kids were so excited to see them fluttering around in their enclosure. We let them go on Thursday. I did take pictures of all of them, and the kids were very excited to get to have a butterfly rest on their finger. Unfortunately, in the end of year chaos, I forgot to upload them to my google drive, so no pictures here yet. I will post them next week when I make our final website update for the school year.
We finished up our water study this week. The kids did a wonderful job learning all about water. I am impressed with their wealth of ideas about the different ways we use water and why people need water. We also ended the week by digging up the banana peel and water bottle that we had buried during Recycling Study. The kids were full of predictions about what would happen, and are getting really good at predicting and using vocabulary like decompose. They were very curious to dig them both up. We found that the water bottle was dirty, but looked just the same as before. The banana peel had completely decomposed though and we couldn't find it at all!
In our final week of school, there are a few fun all school events planned. On Wednesday there will be an all school dance party outside with a DJ! The kids are very excited for this event! Please do send a water bottle, extra mask, and comfortable shoes for the event! On Friday we will be reading outside on beach towels! Again, an extra mask and water bottle will be useful, as well as a beach towel. The school will also be providing popsicles that day. We will also have school on Monday, the 7th. This will be a shortened day with an 11:50 dismissal.
Next week we will be talking all about Kindergarten! I plan to graph with the kids where they will attend kindergarten. We will read books about kindergarten, and talk about how preschool and kindergarten are the same and different. You can also learn more about kindergarten and help your child learn more, by watching this video from Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Molskness. drive.google.com/file/d/10_1gXUVtsS2N0rpZmZIjLpQ0WDy_ag6o/view?usp=sharing
