Have you been hearing all about the Gingerbread Man Loose in the School? I hope so! We have been having lots of fun with this book this week! Our focus this week has been on who works at the school. So the children have learned all about Ms. Maxey, the preschool director, some teachers who work here like Mrs. Dillon that we see on playground or in the small gym every day, Mr. John, our custodian, and Ms. Darlene, the school secretary. When the Gingerbread Man gets loose in the school, he bumps into different people in the school like this, and they help him find his way back to his class. We have had (pretend) gingerbread cookies in the kitchen for them to bake and I have seen their imaginations come to life as they make the cookies come to life! This has been great for them to interact with each other too. They have been very excited to bake cookies together!
It was so great to see so many grandparents this week! I am glad so many of them were able to make it! It is wonderful to see families involved in the school and wanting to take part in the children's education!
Next week is our last week of the Beginning of the Year study. We will be focusing on getting along with peers and making and keeping friends. We have already been teaching them to take turns and invite friends to play. Next week, we will really be focusing on those positive interactions. After that,we will be moving on to a Bread Study!
Next week is also our MENtors breakfast. I hope you will consider participating in this. Kids this age are often very excited when we have a man in the classroom to help out! So I have asked for our classroom to be one that the MENtors visit! I hope some fathers will join us!
