We have had a great week wrapping up our "Beginning of the Year" study. This week we focused on learning the names of important people in our school. We learned about important people like Mrs. Maxey, our preschool director, Ms. Minnie, our preschool secretary, and Mr. Tom, our custodian.
Next week we will begin our study of Pets! The kids have been so excited as birds come to our window, and they loved watching me feed them when they were on playground. We are looking forward to learning about lots of different kinds of pets and how people take care of pets! Our dramatic play center will be getting an animal shelter added to it, for students to adopt "pets" of their own!
Thank you to those you that came out for our Back to School Night last night. It was good to see families here in the classroom and for them to show you what they have been learning about in school. The home and school connection is so important. Kids are learning from you that school is important and that you value their education. What a great message to send them early on. If you were unable to make it, that's OK. I'm looking forward to our Learning Together Day coming up at the end of the month. It will take place on the 31st. This is a short day, ending at 11:50. We will also have a Halloween parade that day. You and your child may wear costumes. Please do make sure your costume is not too scary for young children and is school appropriate, if you choose to wear one. Our class will have the opportunity to march in the Halloween Parade that morning, before returning to our classroom for the Learning Together activities. If you prefer to skip the parade, you and your child can arrive around 10:00 for the Learning Together activities instead. If you have any questions about this day, please feel free to reach out. I know it is a lot of information!
Enjoy the weekend! We are looking forward to beginning a fun new unit of study next week! Please also see the hand out I sent home this week about our pets study, for ways you can participate at home!
