This week has been all about getting to know your children and helping them to feel comfortable here at school. The children have practiced counting at the calendar, following classroom routines, and learning classroom rules. We have enjoyed center times with your children, where they have shown us what things they are excited about, and what they enjoy playing. Everyone has been making new friends, and we are all settling in very well. We also read the story, The Kissing Hand, and the children have made you a kissing hand of your own to keep. Next week, we will introduce our small group time, so students will have the opportunity to practice some handwriting strokes and colors, work on IEP goal work, and get some more individualized instruction time. Thank you all for filling out the home-to-school communication sheets each day! What a great help that has been to us! It is very useful information for us. Thanks also for the classroom supplies, change of clothing, handbook receipt forms, and All About Me sheets. If you have not yet sent in any of these items, please do so as soon as possible. Also, please remember to label everything that you send in to school with your child's name. That is a huge help to all of us! I do apologize that we still have no folders or sticker charts. The folders come from office. They have been ordered, but have not yet arrived. I will definitely send them home as soon as we have them. The sticker charts will be taped to the front of the folders. Rest assured, all of the children have been doing a great job and would be earning a sticker each day. If your child has a behavior issue, I will definitely e-mail you, so you will be aware of any problems, regardless of the sticker chart. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Thank you all for sharing your children with me this week! I have had such a great time getting to know all of your children. We have a GREAT group of kids! UPCOMING DATES TO REMEMBER: September 1-NO SCHOOL, Labor Day September 3-FIRE DRILL in the AM September 9-PICTURE DAY |
Meet Miss Ashley! Miss Ashley is our new teaching assistant. She started with us on Thursday, August 21, and we are thrilled to have her! Ashley is a certified teacher, and has a wonderful rapport with the children. She jumped right in on day one, and she and Miss Dawn have been an asset to our teaching team!
