We are having a great time finishing up our Trees Study! This week we talked all about how we use trees! Don't be surprised if your child is pointing out wooden items in your home made from a tree, or talking about paper made from trees! They've done a wonderful job with this study and we are ready to move on.
Next week we will begin our study of Making Music! I'm excited to teach the kids about different instruments and different kinds of sounds, how music can tie into cultural traditions and much more! There is a letter in their folders today letting you know how you can help as well!
In small groups, we've worked on patterning, sorting, and retelling information from a nonfiction book. It's exciting now that we have been in school for a while, to see how kids are beginning to make progress toward their goals. We began with only being able to retell information with many prompts, to now recalling information quickly and easily. We're making our own patterns, and extending more complicated patterns! I'm so proud of your children and how hard they work every day!
In between the hard work, we also make time for fun. We now have a small Christmas tree and menorah in the classroom to celebrate some winter holidays. The kids have been having lots of fun making ornaments! They're so proud of their drawings and their cutting skills! We've also been writing out December for our new calendar for next month! Your kids are getting so good at writing letters!
