We finished up our Roads Study this week, talking more about how to be safe on the road! We've talked about staying with a grown up, never running into the road, and looking and listening for traffic when we need to cross a road. We have also learned about things that make crossing roads safer, like crosswalks, lights, and crossing guards.
Next week we will begin our final study of this school year: Buildings! This is a fun study and fits right into the end of the year. I like to graph the buildings all the children will be in for school next year. This creates a great visual for them, to help them understand who might be in their class next year. The end of the year can be hard for kids as they recognize that some of them will remain in preschool, others will go to various kindergarten buildings, and some may be going into the full day preschool. The graph visual helps them know which friends might be at the same school they will be at, even if they may not be in the same class. Look for more information to come home next week about how you can help with our building study!
We had a great time at our STEAM Side by Side yesterday! We had "Dancing Spaghetti" that one of our friends was delighted to proclaim as "a geyser!" We had a wrecking ball pendulum that knocked down block towers! We made homemade ice cream, painted with magnets and cars, counted, experimented with ramp textures, and built bridges with marshmallows and toothpicks! Thanks to all who came out for this special time with kids!
